When a person we have been close to dies, it is normal to feel grief- but we can also feel grief at the loss of a relationship, a job, or other significant situations.
Complicated Grief- when the period of grief extends beyond a few months, it is considered "complicated grief".
Children are not immune to feelings of grief--at the loss of a parent, grandparent or even a pet.
